Phoenix Airport Departures (PHX)

Throughout the year, every day some 100,000 passengers arrive or depart from Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport. The three terminal buildings have a capacity to handle 40 million passengers per year and every service departing or arriving passengers could possibly need has been thought of and provided.

Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport departures arriving at the airport by car have 25,000 car parking spaces to choose from, either in underground, covered or open-air parking facilities. Each terminal has a retail area, an area for snacks, restaurants and refreshment, as well as information desks, Lost and Found desks, restrooms, children’s play areas and onward travel options.

Among the domestic and international airlines based at Phoenix Sky Harbour International Airport there are well known carriers such as Air Canada, American Airlines, Aero México, British Airways, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Hawaiian Airlines. In total there are flight connections to 80 domestic destinations and 21 international ones.

Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport departures can catch flights to destinations such as Cancun, Mexico City or Guayamas, Vancouver, San Jose, Calgary, Victoria or London. Inter-continental connections are provided by British Airways while the domestic carriers cover virtually all of the USA.

Departures at Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport with a rental car to return must head for the Rental Car Centre at 1805 East Sky Harbour Circle South, which is between 16th Street and 24th Street, just south of Buckeye Road. The airport shuttle bus will take passengers from the Rental Car Centre to the required terminal.

Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2010 and since then the airport has gone from strength to strength. The airport started life back in the 1930s with just one terminal and has since then been constantly expanded and redeveloped to meet the growing demand from passengers for better infrastructure and services.

Departures at Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport can use the self-service check-in kiosks that most airlines based at the airport provide in the terminals. For passengers without any luggage there are even faster check-in services, as they can bypass the ticket counter level completely, provided they have printed out their boarding pass at the self-service check-in kiosk.

Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport departures for international flights have their own departure area. All air travellers entering the USA must have valid passports and must comply with visa requirements. Foreign currency exchange can be conducted at Terminal 4. It is best to be at the airport at least 90 minutes before boarding time, as security checks can be extensive and during the holiday season there can be considerable queues.

Last year the airport handled 40.5 million passengers. Terminal 2 provides passengers with 9 gates and has three parking slots, while the more modern Terminal 3 has 17 gates and is separated into two concourses. The northern concourse is home to gates 15 to 26, while the southern concourse is home to Gates 2 to 9.

Terminal 4 is the most modern of the terminal buildings and offers Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport departures more than 90 gates, which are divided into seven satellite concourses inter-connected behind the security areas.

Departures at Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport have the United Airlines Lounge at the United Club for their use at Terminal 2 and at Terminal 4 passengers can use the British Airways Terraces Lounge and the US Airways Club Lounge, whilst waiting for their boarding to commence.
