Trains to and from Miami International Airport (MIA)

Upon arrival at Miami International Airport (MIA), passengers can choose from several ground transportation services, including rental cars, taxis, rideshares, hotel shuttle services, buses, and trains.

Trains are also available at the Miami Airport Station, 3861 Northwest 21st Street, Miami, Florida.

From Miami International Airport, you can take the Miami Mover to Miami Airport Station. The MIA Mover is a free shuttle train that runs 24/7.

Metrorail Miami

The Metrorail is at the Miami Airport Station.

From Miami International Airport, you can take the Miami Mover to Miami Airport Station. The MIA Mover is a free shuttle train that runs 24/7.

The location of The MIA Mover is on the 3rd level between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages. To access the MIA Mover station, you can use the 3rd level Skyride (moving walks).

At Miami Airport Station, you can take the Metrorail (Orange Line, Miami-Dade Transit) to travel to the city center.

The metro runs between 5:00 AM and midnight, every 15 to 30 minutes in both directions.

If you want to go to the center of Miami, you either need to get off at the metro station Government Center north of the Miami River or at the metro station Brickell south of the Miami River.

At both stations, you have the option to change to the Metromover, which provides free access to all places in Downtown Miami. The total journey time from Miami Airport to the city center is approximately 30 minutes.

Tickets

A one-way ticket costs $ 2.25. You can also buy a ticket for 1 day or 7 days, for which you pay $ 5.65 or $ 29.25.

You need an EASY Card pass to ride on public transit. To purchase your fare, the EASY Card vending machines are located in the Miami Central Station.

These tickets can be topped up with money or a day pass, and you cannot share the tickets with others.

This allows you to transfer for free from metro to metro or from one bus to another.

If you transfer from bus to metro or from metro to bus, you’ll be charged $ 0.60 on top.

Tri-Rail (Miami, Florida)

Since 2015, MIA has been served directly by Tri-Rail, Miami's commuter rail system.

Tri-Rail connects MIA to northern Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Tri-Rail directly serves points north such as Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pompano Beach, and West Palm Beach.

Tri-Rail fare ranges from $2.50 to $11.55. On weekends a $5.00 all-day pass for all zones is available.

Tri-Rail also offers a $100.00 monthly pass (exclusive for Tri-Rail only) and a $145.00 regional monthly pass good on Tri-Rail, Metrorail, and Metrobus. Discount fares are available for senior citizens, the disabled, students, and children under 12.

On weekdays, 50 train trips are made in all, with 25 in each direction, while on weekends only 30 trips, 15 north, and 15 south, are made in all, with 1-hour headways between each train.

The Tri prefix in the name refers to the three counties served by the railroad: Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade.

Its 114-kilometer system has 18 stations along the Southeast Florida coast and connects directly to Amtrak at numerous stations, and to Metrorail at the Tri-Rail and Metrorail Transfer Station and Miami Intermodal Center.

Amtrak Station (Miami, Florida)

The Miami Amtrak Station is north of Miami at 8303 NW 37th Avenue in Hialeah, Florida. Although it is not in the downtown area, you can reach the Miami International Airport by car or walk to a local rail station for transit access to coastal areas.

The Metrorail Transfer Station is a 10-minute walk away from the Miami Amtrak Station for southbound Tri-Rail trains to Miami Airport and northbound trains to destinations including Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Pompeo Beach, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach.
