Hertz Houston Airport
The George Bush Intercontinental Airport is a Class B international airport located approximately 23 miles, or 37km from the large city of Houston. It is a busy airport in the United States of America, with around 40 million passengers per year. The airport serves the entire area of the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown Metropolitan area (the fifth largest metropolitan in the country) and is a major hub for United Airlines. Arriving passengers have access to several car hire companies, including Hertz Houston Airport, and by rented car is a popular way to travel the area. Hertz is one of the largest car rental firms in the world, and is well known for their professional services.
This large airport of Houston consists of five terminal buildings, known as the Terminals A, B, C, D and E. Since there is quite a significant distance between the terminals, especially A and D, there are two people mover trains for the transport of passengers. One is on the secure side of the airport, and is an above-ground train referred to as the TerminaLink, while the other is for transport on the land-side and is known as the Inter-terminal train. This train is underground. Arriving passengers will find the Houston Airport to be quite easy to navigate, but should pay special attention to the overhead signs. Signs also lead the way to the car rental shuttles from the arrivals area, which take passengers to the George Bush Intercontinentalcar hire companies. Hertz is found on the east side of John F. Kennedy Boulevard, just less than a five minute shuttle ride from the airport terminals. There is a common bus system shared by all the car hire companies, and they are white and maroon in colour. The buses can transport disabled passengers, and have room for luggage.
Hertz is the longest-standing car rental company in the world, with over ninety years of experience. Their cars are some of the best, all mechanically sound and in good physical condition. However, before leaving the airport, ensure that a check has been completed on your vehicle to record any existing damages so that you are not held responsible. The rented car is checked again upon your return, even if you are delivering the vehicle to a rental location other than the George Bush Airport. One way hires can be a popular option for those who are planning to travel more extensively, or for anyone who is leaving the city/state from a different airport. Hertz one way hires can also be referred to as the Hertz Rent-It-Here and Leave-It-There program. The rented vehicle will need to be returned with a full tank of fuel if the customer did not purchase fuel at the start of the rental period, or as ‘empty as possible’ if fuel was purchased. No refunds are given for unused fuel. The purchase of fuel is usually a requirement of rentals that are three days or longer in duration.
Most vehicles from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport car rental companies are selected by category, rather than by their specific make and model, however, Hertz also has a range of cars that can be more specifically booked. These cars are found in the Green Traveler Collection, the Prestige Collection and the Adrenaline Collection. Green Traveler vehicles include the Smart Electric Vehicle, Nissan Leaf Electric Vehicle, Toyota Prius Hybrid, Volkswagen Jetta TDI and the GMC Yukon Compressed Natural Gas. They are ‘green’, eco-friendly vehicles, with low fuel consumption. All vehicles hired also have a CD player, central locking and driver airbags, while others may include dual airbags, power brakes, a satellite navigation system, power steering, electric windows, cruise control and anti-theft devices. Should your vehicle not include a navigation system, one can be arranged with Hertz. The device used by the company is referred to as the Hertz NeverLost In-Car Navigation System, and it has features that will help you to easily locate your position and destination. It is also pre-programmed with thousands of points of interest. Child seats are optional from Hertz as well.
Examples of Cars in the Hertz Prestige Collection are the Infiniti QX56, Volvo C70 Convertible, Mercedes GLK350, Volvo S80 Sedan, Mercedes E Class, Infiniti FX35, Cadillac Escalade AWD (with room for seven passengers) and the Cadillac SRX. Prestige cars are ideal for formal business or private functions, or for customers who prefer to drive in a more stylish vehicles. Adrenaline cars are as their name suggests, interesting models that will get you noticed! They include the Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang GT Premium, Chevy Camaro SS and Corvette Convertible.
These more expensive models, although great to drive, are not for everyone, and therefore Hertz hires a large selection of more ordinary cars as well, similar to the Kia Rio, Chevy Aveo, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Maxima and Chevrolet Malibu. Larger cars for hire from Hertz, Houston Airport, include the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chevy Traverse for seven, the GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Suburban for eight and the Ford Super Clubwagon for up to twelve passengers. To hire most vehicles from Hertz, the primary renter will need to be at least twenty-one years of age, and should carry a valid drivers licence and major credit card. Driving licenses issued in the U.S. and Canada are usually accepted.
Hertz rental cars should be booked in advance – preferably online, and a couple of their services require an advanced reservation as well, such as Hertz hand controls. Hand control equipment is free of charge, and available on certain types of automatic vehicles. Contact Hertz Houston for further details.
