Trains to and from Minneapolis St Paul International Airport (MSP)

When passengers arrive at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), they can take taxis, rideshares, rental cars, buses, hotel shuttles, or trains to get to their next destination.

Metro (Minneapolis) LRT

Light rail trains (LRT) make stops at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, connecting passengers to a total of 17 different locations, such as downtown Minneapolis to the north and the Mall of America to the south.

You can reach the Mall of America by train in just 12 minutes after leaving the airport and the Warehouse District in the heart of downtown Minneapolis in about 25 minutes.

Terminal 1

The light rail station is below the Red, Blue, and Silver parking ramps.

From the Tram Level (one level below the baggage claim area), take the tram to the Red, Blue, and Silver parking ramps.

When exiting the tram, follow the signs to the light rail station.

Terminal 2

On the northern side of the Orange Ramp is where you'll find the station for the light rail.

Take the elevator or escalator up to Level 1 near Ticketing to reach the Orange Ramp skyway. Level 1 is located below ground level.

To get to the LRT station, just follow the signs.

To get to the platform for the train station, take the escalators or elevators down one level.

The light rail stations are easy to get to, and service runs from about 3:36 in the morning until 11:46 at night (southbound).

There are daily departures by train.

It operates at a frequency of once every ten minutes during peak hours and, on average, once every ten to fifteen minutes at other times of the day.

The base price for the regular fare is $2.00.

At the train stations, there are automated ticket vending machines where you can purchase your ticket.

Senior citizens, children, and people with disabilities can all receive discounts on their ticket prices.

While children under the age of six are permitted to ride for free when accompanied by an adult who has purchased a ticket,

When traveling between Terminals 1 and 2 of the Airport, passengers should take the LRT.

There is no need to purchase a ticket in order to move between airport terminal stations.

As an alternative to the light rail service, people who have trouble getting around or have special needs can use a free shuttle service between the terminal buildings.

These passengers include those who are elderly, have physical limitations, are parents with young children, or have baggage.
