Avis Kansas City International Airport Airport
Kansas City International Airport is located approximately 15 miles to the northwest of Kansas City, in the American state of Missouri. It is quite an important airport of the country, as it’s passenger traffic amounts to over ten million per annum. Even though airport authorities have tried to change its IATA code to KCI, it remains as MCI, which relates the airport’s previous name of the Mid-Continent International Airport. Passengers of MCI have access to a great number of facilities, and will mostly find the airport quite easy to navigate. Buses and taxis are available, or the Kansas City International Airport car hire companies, such as Avis, are not far away.
Although there have been problems with the design of the Kansas City Airport terminals, it is still rated within the top five North American airports. Currently, there are three buildings, Terminals A, B and C, and they are separate from one another with no central area. In the future, Terminal A may become a large central terminal, and the other two will either be demolished or used for office space. Improvements to the airport in recent years have also included a new rental car centre, providing a consolidated facility that houses all the airport’s car hire companies. It is not far from the terminals, but a shuttle will be required. The facility is located on the corners of London and Paris, and Bern and London Streets, on airport property.
The car rental shuttles serve all three terminal buildings, and are easily recognised by their grey colour. They are also clearly indicated as car rental shuttles by writing on their sides. There are four shuttle stops at each terminal, and a bus arrives about every two to five minutes. The buses used are of a Gillig variety, and are forty feet in length (twelve metres). They have low-floors which makes them accessible to persons with mobility challenges. At Avis, hand controls are available for persons who need assistance with the operation of the brake and accelerator pedals. This device is used on certain types of automatic vehicles, and should be reserved in advance. From Kansas City Airport, hand controls are free of charge.
Once at the counters of Avis Kansas City International Airport, the primary renters and all additional drivers listed on the rental contract will need to show their valid driving licenses, issued either in the United States or Canada, and a major credit card will be required to validate the rental, even though drivers older than 25 may use debit cards for the initial hold placed on the account for the estimated rental charges. If a debit card is used, and additional amount (about $200.00) will be held. Debit cards are only accepted if they have the Visa or MasterCard logos. If a debit card is used, the renter will be subject to credit checks to determine and ensure credit worthiness, and should be able to present a return airline ticket. Persons between the ages of 21 and 24 may rent a car, however, they will have higher rental rates, and may not be able to choose all vehicle categories.
Avis Preferred members may receive preferential service at Kansas City Airport, and are able to take advantage of all the benefits that this program offers. The membership is available for occasional and frequent renters and is free of charge. At most rental locations, Avis Preferred members will have their paperwork pre-prepared, will receive priority service at special counter areas and will have their vehicles parked in the most convenient locations. Some locations will even have a dedicated cabin in the car park so that the renter need not even stop at the rental counters as the keys will be waiting in the vehicle. Members also enjoy access to all their details online, and may use a dedicated call centre reservation line. To apply for Avis’ loyalty program, the renter should be at least 23 years of age, with a valid drivers license and major credit card.
Vehicles hired from Avis are usually returned to the same rental location as from where they were collected, which in this case is the Kansas City International Airport. One way hires, however, may be permitted, which allow the vehicle to be delivered elsewhere. Avis’ one way hire services are popular amongst travellers who plan a more extensive driving itinerary, but could incur additional charges. Always confirm the return location with Avis, and be sure to stay within the states to which the vehicle is permitted to be driven. Leaving the country is often against the rental contract unless special cross-border rental arrangements have been made.
Customers will receive a car in good condition from the Kansas City International Airport car rental companies, and it will have a full tank of fuel at the start of the rental period. Return it full if fuel was not purchased from Avis, or as empty as possible if a fuel purchase was made. Vehicles such as the Hyundai Accent, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Impala can be hired from Avis’ Subcompact, Compact, Intermediate, Standard and Fullsize categories, while the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Escape, Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Edge and Chevrolet Suburban are examples of SUVs from Avis. Some of these SUVs can seat seven or eight passengers, which is also the capacity of the Dodge Grand Caravan, found in the Minivan category. One of the largest vehicles for hire is the Ford E350, with room for twelve.
Avis at Kansas City International Airport hires premium and luxury vehicles as well, and a large number of interesting cars can be found in the Special category. Avis at this rental location will be happy to provide all further details required.
