Europcar Kansas City International Airport Airport
Kansas City International Airport, or sometimes referred to as KCI, is the main airport for commercial air traffic nearby Kansas City in the state of Missouri. Although known as KCI, its official IATA code is actually MCI, referring to its previous name of the Mid-Continental International Airport. This American airport serves over ten million passengers per annum, and is a major airport for operations by Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines. It has many facilities for its passengers as well, such as the Kansas City International Airport car hire companies, which include Europcar. By rented car is considered as the most convenient way to travel the city and surrounding areas.
The airport of Kansas City is quite large, with three terminal buildings. These terminals all have their own security areas and departure gates, as well as their own arrival halls. A passenger’s terminal of arrival will mainly depend on the airline company with which they are flying, and the origin of the flight, i.e. if it is a domestic or international flight. Passengers will collect their luggage items and then make their way to the parking area to fetch their vehicle or to the ground transportation area outside the building, from where buses and taxis are available. If a passenger has rented a car from Europcar, he/she will need to catch one of the shuttles that go to the new rental car centre of the airport, found a short distance from the terminal buildings, but still on airport property.
The shuttles are easily recognised, as they have signage on their sides that read ‘rental car shuttle bus’. They are also grey in colour, and only collect passengers from certain designated shuttle stops outside of each terminal. If the stops are hard to find, simply ask for assistance from one of the airport ambassadors dressed in red-brick blazers. Passengers may use the rental car shuttles for free, and will find them conveniently available every two to five minutes. The journey to the car hire facility will also just take a minute or two. Take note that passengers with Europcar reservations will go to the National Car Hire counters to collect their vehicle. National is one of Europcar’s partners in the industry, and will provide excellent service.
The terms and conditions to rent a car from one of the Kansas City International Airport car rental companies may require the primary renter to be over the age of 25, however, drivers 21 years of age or older may rent a car as well, from certain car categories. They will simply need to pay an additional charge for young drivers insurance. Other restrictions may also apply, such as the fact they are not able to use a debit card at the start of the rental period, for the required hold that is placed on the account for the estimated rental charges. An ‘older’ driver may use a debit card that has the Visa or MasterCard logo for this purpose, if he/she does not mind an extra amount of about $200.00 being withheld. This amount will be released upon the safe return of the vehicle and the final payment of the rental contract. The bank, however, may take a little time to allow the money to be available again, therefore ensure that it is money that is not urgently needed.
All drivers registered on the rental contract should be present to collect the vehicle, and should bring along their valid drivers license. All licenses issued in the United States are accepted, as well as those that are Canadian-endorsed. Licenses should show a clean driving record. Even if a debit card is used, as mentioned above, a major credit card may still be necessary, and customers may be subject to checks for creditworthiness. The major cards accepted include American Express, Diner’s Club Int’l, GE Capital, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and Sears. The car rental companies may have their own charge cards as well.
Europcar Kansas City International Airport is a company with a wide selection of vehicles for hire. They come in all sizes, ranging from small to large, and from ordinary to luxurious. The smaller cars are generally considered to be eco-friendly and fuel efficient, and are ideal for all types of driving, provided that they are spacious enough for passengers and their luggage items. The Chevrolet Aveo is ideal for couples or single drivers, while the Nissan Versa and Toyota Corolla seat up to five passengers, and have room for an item or two of luggage. Popular as well, are the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Impala, which are ideal family cars. With all vehicles, customers may request the use of satellite navigation systems and child seats, and from Kansas City International Airport, hand controls are available on certain types of vehicles. Europcar hand controls for disabled drivers should be reserved at least forty-eight hours prior to your arrival, and are free of charge.
Vehicles can be arranged as Europcar one way hires, which means that they are permitted to be returned to a rental location other than Kansas City International Airport. One way hire services may come with extra charges. There are also a number of larger sized vehicles available from Europcar. The Dodge Grand Caravan, a minivan, seats up to seven passengers, while the Chevrolet Express, a passenger van, can accommodate up to fifteen. The Toyota Sienna is a eight-passenger minivan, and the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban and Lincoln Navigator are large SUVs able to seat seven or eight travellers.
