National Car Rental at Denver International Airport

Denver International Airport (DEN) is the main hub for the low-cost airline carrier of Frontier Airlines, and the fourth largest hub for United Airlines. It is also served by a large number of other international and local carriers, and is considered as the fifth busiest airport in the world for aircraft movements. The airport is found about 25 miles from downtown Denver, in the state of Colorado, North America. Buses and taxis serve the airport, but there are also car rental companies available, such as National Denver International Airport. National is perhaps most famous for their business car hire services, and have been providing quality vehicles to thousands of airport passengers for over fifty years.

Once arriving at Denver International Airport, passengers will make their way to the main terminal of the airport, known as the Jeppesen Terminal, either by a passenger bridge (Concourse A) or by the airport train (Concourses B and C). Most international flights arrive at Concourse A, while domestic flights are handled at Concourses B and C. The main passenger terminal is large with a couple of levels, and has an east and a west side. However, although there are car rental counters in the main terminal building, passengers will need to travel by shuttle to the car hire offices of National in order to collect their vehicle. The car hire companies are all along East 78th Avenue, a short distance from the Jeppesen Terminal. They are still on airport property, but cannot be reached on foot. There are signs in the terminal that lead the way to the car rental shuttles, which are found on Level 5, at Island 4, outside doors 505-513 on the east side and outside doors 504-512 on the west side. National’s shuttle vans are frequently available, and do not take long to reach the main car rental site of the airport.

All National’s cars are divided into various car groups, and are therefore hired accordingly. Passengers will not be selecting a car by its specific make and model. Economy, Compact and Midsize cars often come with the cheapest rental rates, and are ideal for casual driving in any American city. Standard and Fullsize cars such as the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Impala are a little larger, with room for five passengers and four luggage items. Corporate individuals in need of a more elegant vehicle can choose the Luxury or Premium category from National, and drive something similar to the Toyota Avalon, Lincoln MKS or Cadillac DTS.

SUVs and Minivans are available from National at Denver Airport as well, and are often considered ideal when travelling into the nearby Rocky Mountains. Minivans include the Dodge Grand Caravan for seven and the Toyota Sienna for eight, and SUVs are similar to the Ford Escape, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, Lincoln Navigator and the Hummer H3, which is a Specialty SUV. Additional cars available include the Toyota Prius, Ford Mustang, Dodge Journey, GMC Acadia, Jeep Wrangler, Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Silverado and the Chevrolet Express, one of the larger Passenger Vans from National. Always hire your car in advance, preferably online, and specify if it will be National one way hire or an ordinary rental that will be returned to Denver International Airport. One way hire services are sometimes most convenient, but could incur additional charges.

It is also recommended to hire any additional items of equipment required for your journey in advance. All the car hire companies have child seats available for those travelling with young children, and satellite navigation systems that are useful to anyone who is unfamiliar with the Denver road network. Child seats come in various sizes, therefore its best to specify the age of your child (children). National hand controls for disabled drivers may be available as well, for persons with a lower limb disability. The device is used to control the brake and accelerator pedals of certain automatic vehicles. From Denver International Airport, hand controls are free of charge, but all other items will cost an extra few dollars.
