Las Vegas International Airport, or the McCarran International Airport, is a large airport serving the city of Las Vegas, in the state of Nevada. This American airport handles over 38 million passengers per annum, many of which are tourists visiting the world-famous Las Vegas attractions and casinos. The airport is also rated as the twenty-second busiest in the world for passenger numbers, and the ninth busiest for aircraft movements. Las Vegas can easily be travelled in a rented car from one of the airport car hire companies, such as National Las Vegas Airport. National has many car rental locations around the world, and is popular for their professional service.
Passengers could arrive at any one of two terminal buildings at Las Vegas Airport, however, the majority of flights are handled from Terminal 1, a building with four concourses. Its concourses are lettered (A, B, C and D), and people mover systems connect Concourses C and D with the centralized check-in and baggage reclaim areas. Currently, Terminal 2 handles international arrivals and most charter operations of the airport, however, it will soon be replaced by a new building, with more departure gates and additional passenger facilities. Terminal 3 is scheduled to open mid-2012. Passengers arriving in either terminal will need to take a shuttle to the National car rental counters, as the Las Vegas Airport Car Rental Centre is found 3 miles from the airport facilities, at 7135 Gilespie Street. The shuttle services are convenient, as they are available every five minutes, and there are forty buses allocated to the service. The buses depart from outside Doors 10 and 11.
National customers can hire all kinds of vehicles, from a variety of car classes. Keep in mind that all vehicles are priced, booked and controlled by car category, and are therefore not reserved by their specific makes and models. However, the cars in a category all have similar characteristics and are similar in size. They may differ slightly according to their manufacture, but the example car provided for each category gives a good idea of the car you will be driving. Smaller National cars include the Chevrolet Aveo, Nissan Versa and Toyota Corolla, in the categories of Economy, Compact and Midsize, and these cars are usually hired with the lowest car rental rates. They are ideal for all types of driving, and come with air conditioning, an automatic transmission, room for five passengers and space for a few luggage items. Larger sedans include the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Impala, a Fullsize vehicle.
In Las Vegas, people often want to travel in style, and therefore National offers a selection of vehicles in the Fullsize Elite, Luxury and Convertible categories. There are also luxury SUVs available, and Premium Pickups. Some of these special cars may include the Lincoln MKS, Cadillac DTS, Ford Mustang, Lincoln Navigator and the Chevrolet Silverado. Vehicles ideal for seven or eight passengers include the Dodge Grand Caravan and Toyota Sienna, respectively, and one of National’s largest vehicles is the Chevrolet Express, for up to fifteen travellers. Additional SUVs hired from National are similar to the Hummer H3, Ford Escape, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe, while a Fullsize Crossover is the Dodge Journey.
The Las Vegas International Airport car hire companies hire child seats and satellite navigation systems with their vehicles for an additional price per day of rental, or per rental contract, and National hand controls for disabled drivers are available on certain makes of vehicles. These items of equipment should be hired in advance, in order to ensure their availability, in particular hand controls and child seats, as these items cannot be done without. Always specify the age of your child so that National can provide the correct size of seat upon your arrival at Las Vegas Airport. Hand controls are, unlike other items of equipment hired, free of charge. The rented car itself is also recommended to be hired as early as possible, especially if a customer is looking for cheaper car rental rates.
National’s cars may be possible to arrange as a one way hire from the rental location of Las Vegas Airport. One way hires may be driven to all surrounding areas, but may be limited to certain states in the vicinity. The service allows customers to return the rented car to a different location, rather than travelling back to Las Vegas if a one-way travel itinerary is required. National one way hires could be more expensive than an ordinary rental.
It is essential to meet all car rental requirements of National, for example, the primary renter is usually expected to be over the age of 25 to rent from all car categories, and over the age of 21 to hire from certain car categories. Persons who are younger than 25 may incur higher rental rates than usual for their vehicle, as additional insurance may be a mandatory requirement. Younger customers may also not be able to use a debit card for the initial hold that is placed on their account at the beginning of the rental period for the estimated total charges due. In general, however, the primary renter may use a debit card with a Mastercard or Visa logo or any one of the major accepted credit cards at the start of the rental period, and a debit or credit card or cash at the end of the rental period for the final payment. A valid drivers license will be required by all drivers registered on the rental agreement, and a safe driving record is essential. Foreign renters will need a valid passport or a Canadian-endorsed driving license, and perhaps a return airline ticket as well.
National Las Vegas Airport is available twenty-four hours a day for all further car rental enquiries.
